Our Story

Our story begins, not in Bristol, but in South Wales, where the pastors of Christchurch, a large church in the city of Newport, had a desire to see a gospel-centred church started in Bristol that would be committed to building a community where people could learn, grow and worship God together.

In the Summer of 2002, a small team of 15 adults and a handful of children, led by Nathan Smith, were sent out from Christchurch to establish this new church.

Grace Church officially opened its door for the very first time in September 2002, meeting in a local primary school in Downend, a suburb in the north east of the city.

Over the past 6 years the church has, by God’s grace, grown from those small beginnings.  We have experienced the joy of seeing people being saved and added to our number, reaching out and serving our community, changing our meeting venue and adding a second full-time pastor to our leadership team.

Today, Grace Church continues to be a growing church that loves Jesus, loves the gospel, loves the church and loves the lost. We have a passion to spread the gospel and a desire to serve our local community, the city of Bristol and beyond.

Though our family has grown, Grace Church is still working towards its goal of building a community of gospel-centred people, who believe, live out and represent the truth of God and His gospel to the world.
