What Should I Expect?
We’re aware that coming along to church can be a nerve-wracking experience, especially the first time out. So, to help you relax and settle in, here’s the essential headlines of what’s what at Grace Church…
WHEN TO ARRIVE?
We suggest turning up around 10:15am. You will discover a warm, friendly atmosphere, and people who will help you find your way about. If you’re driving, there’s plenty of free parking.
If you are coming with your family, the children can be dropped off at their classes from 10:15am. Each week there is a full children’s program, complete with creche facilities.
Grab a cup of the complimentary coffee that’s available before the service and find a seat.
There’s no dress code at Grace Church - so come smart or casual and you’ll fit right in.
WHAT HAPPENS?
The service starts at 10:30am. Usually we spend a while singing modern, lively praise and worship songs led by a gifted band.
After the worship time, there’s a brief interlude for announcements and news of the forthcoming activities of the church. During this time we take up an offering. It’s an opportunity to support the work of the church. However, we DON’T expect visitors to make any contribution to this; so please let the basket pass you by without any embarrassment.
The meeting continues with a time of teaching, where one of our pastors (or someone invited by them) will preach from the Bible in a way that is inspiring, instructive and edifying, explaining the depth and wonder of the good news of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Word of God.
We tend to use one of the modern translations of the Bible (English Standard Version is current favourite). If you don’t have a Bible don’t panic, we have copies freely available.
We normally wrap up the meeting with another song and there might be an opportunity to respond to the preaching that morning.
By now it’s normally around noon. Children are ready for collection from their classes and everyone is invited to stick around for tea/coffee and biscuits. We have a resources table full of books and CDs for you to browse and buy.
After every Sunday service there is always someone available if you would like us to pray for you, provide you with more information about the church or answer any questions you have.
