Doing Christ’s Work In Christ’s Power In Christ’s Way

Peter Bowley
-
Oct 3, 2021
To be a follower of Christ is to follow in the ways of Christ, both in terms of our character and our service. But how do we do Christ’s work, in Christ’s power, in Christ’s way? This sermon seeks to answer this most important question by exploring Jesus’ final words to his disciples before his ascension in Acts 1:8. Part of our "One Verse Wonders" series.

Sundays

— Whether you're searching for a church or looking for answers to life's big questions, we're glad you found us.
We love being together as a church and for us Sunday is the highlight of the week. Throughout the week we've been scattered, but every Sunday we gather together as one big family to worship Jesus, listen to His Word being preached, pray together, and care for one another. Everyone is welcome!

Arrive & Park

We meet at Downend School. You'll see our banners and flags. There's onsite parking, including disabled spaces. Aim to arrive at 10:15am to grab a cup of coffee and a seat.

Relaxed atmosphere

While we take worship and the word of God seriously, you will notice that our gathering has a relaxed feel to it. Feel free to wear what’s comfortable for you, and you’ll fit right in.

Greeters to help

Our Welcome Desk is located in the main foyer and provides information about the church. If you need help, please see one of our greeters and they will be happy to assist you.

Worship & teaching

Our meetings start at 10:30am and usually last about an hour and a half. They include contemporary music, expressive singing, prayer, and teaching from the Bible.

After the service

We'd love a chance to meet you. We have tea, coffee and biscuits to enjoy together so there's an opportunity to meet new people and ask any questions you have.

Join us again

Join us next Sunday and look for other ways to get connected with our church family. We’d love for you to be part of what Jesus is doing right here in Bristol.

For the kids

— The laughter and noise of children is a wonderfully regular experience at Grace Church.

One of the frequent observations from our visitors is the sheer number of kids present! So if you do have children it won't be long before they make friends with others their own age. Kids are important to us, so we’ve created a safe place where they can learn about Jesus on their level. We run three age-specific groups for children during the morning service, staffed by our friendly DBS-checked volunteers.

6 months to 3 years

Creche

Available during the entire service. Here babies and toddlers can explore toys, enjoy stories and play lots under the caring supervision of our team.
4-10 years

Grace Kids

Children stay with their parents during the singing before going out to their groups during the sermon. A typical session would include all the things that kids love: music, games, activities, and crafts, all designed to help communicate the Bible message clearly.
School years 6-8

Crossway

This group meets every other Sunday during the sermon for Bible study and age-appropriate discussion. The other weeks we encourage them to remain in the main service and listen to the sermon.
